You may be wondering why I misspelled "Beard" in the company name. Here's the story:
In 2019, I was living in Utah with my fiancé when we noticed there were no brewery tours in the area even though there are a large number of great craft breweries in Salt Lake City and Ogden. We had the brilliant idea to start Utah's first and only brewery bus tour.
In March 2020, we founded BeerdBus Brew Tours (yup, right before the world shut down) to help promote Utah's local breweries and provide beer enthusiasts with a fun and safe way to discover Utah craft beer.
The name was a play on BEER and BEARD (due to my beard). We could have been BeardBus or even BeerBus but we opted for BeerdBus and designed the beard using a hop! (Hops are used to make beer including the beers at our local watering hole, Post & Beam Brewery in Peterborough, NH.)
We purchased and renovated a 26' Ford F550 shuttle bus to run tours.
As you can imagine, 2020 wasn't the best time to launch a tourism based business, but we still managed to run a decent number of public and private tours as well as sell branded merchandise including trucker hats which feature the "hop beard" from the logo. This hop beard was very popular...
In January 2022 we closed BeerdBus Brew Tours and sold the bus before moving back to our home state of NH. We bought a funky 1970's home that I've been renovating ever since.
After our daughter was born, we decided that I would be the stay-at-home parent until we could find childcare but in the meantime, I started Beerd Builds to bring in some extra money to support my family, help our local community, and give us the flexibility needed to raise our child.
As a craft beer enthusiast, I wanted to keep the hop beard as part of the brand since it's so iconic as well as Beerd instead of Beard to keep the name alive.
And that's why I'm Beerd Builds, not Beard Builds.
